Emily Tillman is a multidisciplinary artist whose work captures the emotional terrain of transformation where realism and abstraction coexist like memory and dream.  Her paintings dwell in the in-between: the space where color becomes feeling, texture becomes language, and imagery drifts between the seen and the remembered.

Rooted in the Southeast, her imagery features threshold spaces and pulls from real places and personal memories but renders them through a dreamlike lens which mirror her own reflections on loss, renewal, and the quiet persistence of hope. These subjects serve as metaphors symbolizing inner strength, direction, and a connection to home.

Her work often blurs the line between external landscape and internal state, inviting viewers to enter a shared reflection on grief, healing, and belonging.

Tillman’s process is intuitive and immersive. She layers paint and subtle texture to build depth, not only of surface, but of emotion. Through these layered compositions, she explores how the physical act of painting can mirror the ongoing act of becoming: surrendering control, revisiting memory, and trusting what emerges from the process.

Through Emily Tillman Studios, she invites others into that liminal space to pause, to feel, and to find beauty in life.
